Description Coastal rides provide the freedom to just ride north as far as you feel like, and then turn around. Here is another coastal ride, that turns around at La Costa, which is at the northern border of Leucadia and the southern border of Carlsbad. If you go straight on La Costa, you can ride Elfin Forest, which is the route that Swami's does. If you continue north along the coast, you can ride to Oceanside or even San Clemente (Orange County).

Note: The distances are only approximate. The map is from 1975 and I had to guess where the route went on campus which affects the whole route and calculated distances.

0.0 KM Start at the campus bike shop.

1.73 KM Head north on North Torrey Pines Road at Genesee.

10.64 KM Remember to stay left and *not* go down Jimmy Durante Rd. From here just stay along the coast on the main road.

24.53 KM Once you're through Leucadia, take a right turn onto La Costa Ave. Go over the railroad tracks, and then turn right, onto Vulcan Ave. Stay on this road, although it will change it's name to San Elijo Ave.

32.41 KM After you pass by VGs, turn right onto Chesterfield Dr. Cross the railroad tracks, and turn left onto Old Highway 101, back towards campus. From here you simply retrace your path, or take the alternate routes described in the route for VGs.
