Biggest Cycling Events
If the international program of Mountain Bike competitions in 2019 should tie you up to Red Bull TV, the French calendar of the discipline will not give you any respite either. From the first French mountain bike endurance championships to marathon descents in the Alps or Reunion via the must-see international events in enduro, cross-country or DH, here are the 10 French events to remember for this 2019 mountain bike season.
Green Bike Festival
Organized at the beginning of the season, the Vélo Vert Festival is a must-see for mountain bike lovers. It is held each year in the Vercors in Villard-de-Lans. In 2019, it will celebrate its tenth edition. In addition to the race of the mythical Rando and its 71.3 km (one of the big raids of the year), the programming is dense, whether in enduro, electric mountain bike or cross-country. The Green Bike Festival will also host the only French round of the World Cup cross-country eliminator. And like every year, the exhibitors ‘ fair will be the occasion to test the best enduros in the market.
Downhill World Cup
For 2019, the World Cup downhill schedule expands to eight events. In addition to the usual appointments, the pilots will also return to the United States. But from the beginning of the season, it is to Maribor that they will face each other for the first stage. The track offers a fairly complete challenge, between high-speed crossings and more technical sectors. After a break of nine years, this stage of Eastern Europe is finally back.
Cross Country and short track
Nové Město regularly attracts the largest number of spectators to a mountain bike event. Whether cross-country or short track (since 2018), the event is one of the most important of the year in the ATV calendar. In the Czech forest, the struggles are always intense between the best cross-country riders on the planet, and this new season of XCO and XCC 2019 should confirm it again.
Crankworx Europe
Since its birth in Canada in the world-renowned resort of Whistler, the Crankworx has become a sort of mini-championship. This series of the international level will stop once in Europe (after the disappearance of Crankworx Les Gets), and it will be in Austria, in the resort of Innsbruck. On the program: intense duels in Dual slalom, hellish descents in DH, style in Whip-Off, Speed and Style and the highlight of the show with slopestyle.
World cup of downhill and cross-country
Les Gets and its neighboring town, Morzine, have been a must-see ATV resort for 30 years now. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Les Gets hosted several World Cup downhill stages as well as the worlds in 2004 on which Steve Peat had fallen within a few meters of the finish line. The return of this alpine stage was long-awaited and should again attract crowds for one of the fastest races of the season. It will also be an opportunity to see the CXO and CXC disciplines for a busy weekend ATV.
ATV World Championships, Mont-Sainte-Anne
This year, the electric ATV will crown its first world champions in August in Canada. In the mythical Mont-Sainte-Anne resort, a new era will be officially launched. And if this last one does not necessarily please everyone, there is no doubt that this date of August 28th should be part of the history of the ATV. Of course, we will also be watching the other races of CXO, CXC, and DH that week.
